•    Disqus on Wordpress

I recently found out the advantages of Disqus, so I made this a-must plugin on every blog I have.

    What are the advantages?

    • You could administrate all comments on your blogs in just one page, and you could reply there as well.
    • You could promote your site by making it your URL and you could change your name to the keyword you wanted.
    • No room for spammers.

  •    SEO Workshop

Last September 28, 2009, I was able to attend an SEO workshop by Janette Toral. Though, at the start she mentioned it was going to be just basic, but I learned a lot and so has others who attended the said workshop. I guess it was more than basic for us.

The workshop was held at Netopia

Just a suitable place with a fast internet and a small room to let us have our workshop.

    Here are the pics taken:

After the event, we decided to have some chit-chat time with Maam Janette. So we went to Smallville and found a good place to eat.

It was such a great learning experience for me. So, as a TIP, I would leave you this: In SEO, you shouldn’t stop learning because if you do, surely, you’ll be left behind.

  •    Comment Gone Wrong

    comment gone wrong

    comment gone wrong

So, I was complaining about the comments I have been getting into one of my blogs. I emailed that person telling 3 comments a day is enough. However, I was shocked when I saw another set of comments and obviously coming from the same person.

I guess this person doesn’t know Wordpress and that comments here records IP, so even if the name, email and URL is changed, if no other “hocus pocus” is being done then the IP wouldn’t be changed.

In respect to this person, because obviously a newbie in link building. I brushed out some parts of the info given. So, if you are a link builder, please don’t do this. There are a lot of blogs to comment on, so you got a lot of resources, why just stick and bother one?

    Good Luck link builders.

  •    Blog Commenting

One of the task of a link builder is do blog commenting. In doing this, one has put in mind to comment according to the post, but what if a person though commenting about the post do it excessively?

I usually get 1 or 2 comments on my blog, but when I saw 29 new comments, it has caught my attention, especially those 29 is done by only one person.

It’s flattering that someone would take time to read and comment on every post I have but if comments are simply done for the sake of commenting to have link on it, it certainly doesn’t look nice. I guess a maximum of 3 post to comment on a certain blog in a day would be enough, a 5 would be too much for me, but 29? Just doesn’t seem right.

Check the comments being done on my blog, though some I would consider, but some just obviously was done for the sake of being able to leave a comment to link its site. This is a bad practice, because the blog owner like me would tend to mark this as spam.

Leave a comment if you feel like your comment would add to the quality of the post, for the next visitor to learn from it, not for the sake of link building. Build links naturally!

  •    July 2008 Google Page Rank Update

I just saw some changes on my sites PR (Page Rank) today. This site has went down to PR 1 from PR 2. Actually, most of my sites had decrease in PR, however one of my site did have an increase and that is the Iloilo Bloggers; from PR 3 to PR 4.

I noticed that some pages or profiles of members had increase in PR as well, most of them have PR 2 profiles, while 2 of them had a PR 3; GM and Oliver.

Now, what seem to contribute this PR increase? I think it is because members had linked the site up and their blogs may have gained PR, so that is added into my score on Google.

Because I had a PR 4 on my Iloilo Bloggers, I will give you 4 SEO TIPS on how to earn PR:

    1. Create a BUZZ to have other sites link you. -TIP given by Benj Arriola
    2. Have a good design for your blog or site.
    3. Update – not necessarily a daily update, but you have to check it once in a while to be able to reply for comments of visitors.
    4. Do not link up PTB (Paid To Blog) sites, Google hates them, that was the main BIG thing during the PR update last October 2007.

That’s it for now. Good Luck and may you have a PR increase on the next Google PR Update.

Is somehow the same as Blog Catalog. The idea, is to be able to have a widget on the sidebar,  to know who visited your site, without the visitors leaving any message.

This is also good for marketers, to know bloggers or blog that is about a specific topic. You could check the community and have huge list of bloggers within that said topic. There you could get a list of people you would like to get in touch with while promoting a site.

    This is owned by Yahoo.
